CAMP CALIFORNIA TEAM

Each summer Camp California brings together a wonderful team of counselors and staff to give your child the best possible summer camp experience. The majority of our cabin counselors are Native English Speaking from the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Many of our counselors and staff are also fluent in: Croatian, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Russian and Spanish. Our counselors are also highly skilled and experienced in the many activities we offer at Camp California as well as previous experience in youth development and supervision.

Max

Max is from the United States, and loves that he’s able to call Croatia home in the summer.  This will be Max’s 5th summer as Director of Camp California.  He has worked as a Counselor, Assistant Director, Founder and Director at some of the premier camps in the United States.  He has over 20 years of experience working with and running children’s summer camps.  Max loves being able to work with campers and staff from all over the world at Camp California.  When he’s not at camp, Max enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and daughter.  Max’s goal every summer is to create a safe, friendly, and fun environment where campers and counselors from around the world can thrive.

Tina

Tina is from Croatia, moving to Camp every summer from Rijeka. She fell in love with Camp California as a Teen Adventure counselor back in 2004 and returned as an Administrator in 2019. This will be her 7th summer in Camp helping the Camp run smoothly and making sure everyone is in for the greatest experience.  When not at Camp, Tina loves exploring the outdoors with her dog Lucky or spends her time being creative.  She considers Camp California to be her happy place!

Chiara

Chiara is from Rijeka, Croatia, but considers the world her home. As a passionate traveller who visited over 40 countries, on 5 different continents, Chiara likes to say there is no place like home and that is why she decided to spend her second summer in a piece of paradise called Camp California! During her college studies Chiara was gaining work experience in the US and Croatia and nowadays she is working as a camp administrator, making sure Camp Cal runs safe and smoothly for everyone. When not working, Chiara enjoys to spend her time learning new languages, swimming, sailing and being outdoors.  Chiara can't wait to see old friends and meet new faces and spend another magical summer in the most exciting Camp of them all!

Conor

Conor comes to us from the Emerald Isle of Ireland, and is returing to camp for his 6th summer!  He has held various roles at camp including Head of Boys, Head of Sports, as well as Program Director for his last two summers, and he’s excited to return this year as our Waterfront Director. Conor has a degree in Sport & Business from Atlantic Technological University Sligo.  He has been away from camp for a few years working as an early years teacher in London, and he is currently working as a swim teacher in Ireland, but he has been longing for a return to camp.  He can’t wait to bring his energetic and exciting lessons back to camp!  He's thrilled to get back to the Adriatic creating lifelong memories for campers all over the world to enjoy!   

Neamh

Neamh is joining us from Galway in Ireland.  She will be back at Camp California for a fourth summer, and is excited to start her new role as one of our Program Directors!  Neamh loves all forms of outdoor activities including wind surfing, kayaking and high ropes.  She loves helping campers have lots of fun and gain confidence in various activities at camp. She is so excited to spend another summer in paradise and meet all the campers.
 

Matt

Matt "Bubbles" is joining us from England for his 4th summer at camp! In previous years he has had various roles at camp from working on Teen adventure and being Head of Boys. This year Matt will be one of our Program Directors! Matt loves all forms of activities at camp with his personal favourite being Syncro Swim. He loves high energy classes and having lots of fun with the campers! Matt is super excited to be back and living next to the Adriatic Sea this summer! 

Fiona

Fiona is a swimming pool Manager from the west of Ireland and will be returning to camp this year as our Assistant Waterfront Director. Fiona had her first experience with Camp California in 2017 and can't wait to get back to join the team for 2023. Fiona loves anything to do with the outdoors, main hobbies including Volleyball, Tennis, Basketball, Soccer & Swimming. Fiona can't wait to have a great summer with everyone and to bring some great Irish energy over with her! 

Harvey

Harvey will be joining us for the first time this summer. He comes to us from Leeds, where he is in university studying neuroscience. Harvey loves being outdoors and enjoys keeping active by running and playing cricket. He can’t wait to make memories with the campers and have the summer of a lifetime!

Eden

Eden is joining us from England for her second year at Camp Cal. She loved every part of camp last summer, so is very excited to be returning at Head of Girls. She loves spending time outdoors and particularly loves SUP, fishing and yoga at Camp Cal. Eden enjoys spending time with the campers and is so excited to meet new and returning campers this year.

Carolyn

Carolyn joins us for her 2nd summer at camp from Nebraska in the United States.  She is in her fourth year of studying nursing and Spanish. Carolyn has previous camp experience as a Camp Mom and counselor and has worked with kids of all ages. She loves hiking, kayaking, traveling, and is always up for an adventure. She is ready for a fantastic summer at camp!

Cody

Cody joins us from Birmingham, England and will be in his second year working with us at Camp California.  Specialising in all things sports, Cody brings his experience of working with kids back to the Croatian coast this summer, and is looking forward to helping everyone have an experience they'll never forget!

Connor

Connor is returning to Camp Cal for his 2nd summer and comes to us from California, USA. He runs athletic programs and loves to promote good health to every child. Connor has traveled all over America, visiting places like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and the beaches in San Diego, and he's thrilled to be returning to Croatia this summer. He loves all things outdoors including hiking, biking, and playing sports. Connor is so excited to bring the California vibe to Croatia and plans to spread peace, love and positivity to everyone he meets. 

Jackson

Jackson is from the United States and is looking forward to his 2nd summer at Camp Cal! He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in International Relations, and loves all things outdoors, traveling, music, and basketball. Jackson can’t wait to get be back at Camp Cal and help campers make the most of an amazing summer!

Caleb

Caleb is a second-year business student from Aberystwyth University who has a love for hot weather and motorcycles. It will be his first time joining the Camp California team and his first time travelling to Croatia. Caleb has travelled to places such as the U.S., Cyprus and much of Europe. He has grown up in a family-run hotel and has lots of experience helping out with international group bookings and the children that come along. Caleb loves the sea and hopes to help as much as possible with water-based activities. He plays American football for the university and loves outdoor activities.  

Scout

Scout grew up on the east coast of Canada and just graduated with a bachelors in physics degree. She is excited to spend the summer at Camp California and to share her enthusiasm and positivity with all campers. Scout has always been drawn to the water and grew up enjoying kayaking and canoeing with her family. She has also been a member of her university's rowing team for the past three years. When she's not on the water, Scout enjoys highland dancing and has been teaching dance to students of all ages for many years. Scout is committed to helping every camper have a fun and positive experience at camp. She is always happy to lend a listening ear or help out with whatever is needed, and she can't wait to make amazing memories this summer!

Paula

Paula is Peruvian, studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science in Bristol, UK. She has moved to several countries since the age of 15 which makes her very open to meeting people from all different backgrounds. She grew up in a family with two marathonist parents and used to be a competitive swimmer when she was younger, so she loves sports and always stays active! Because she comes from a hot country, Paula is very excited to spend the summer in the hot weather of Croatia, helping campers have the most amazing experience ever!

Luka

Luka is joining us for his first summer at camp all the way from Byron Bay, Australia! A true Aussie, he loves all things on the waterfront, diving, surfing, kayaking, and fishing to name a few. Luka is stoked to meet all the campers and staff, and create some unforgettable memories on the summer of a lifetime!

Leah

Leah is joining us from Waterford, Ireland for her first summer at Camp Cal! Leah is studying to become a physiotherapist in Limerick and is currently a swim teacher.  She loves seeing kids’ confidence and passion for the water grow. Leah grew up doing lots of sports, but her favourite was competitive swimming. She is buzzing to try a bunch of new sports and activities this summer. Leah can’t wait to meet everyone at camp and have the best summer yet!

Clarissa

Clarissa is from the southeast of Ireland and this will be her first summer with Camp California! She has just finished her first year studying Biological and Chemical Sciences at University College Cork. Clarissa loves being out in the sun and thinks of the beach as her happy place. Growing up she loved to play soccer and really enjoyed gymnastics. She is so excited to meet all the campers this summer!

Daniel

Daniel is from Upper Hutt, New Zealand! This is his first summer at Camp California, but he has worked at summer camps in the past. He is a lover of the water and spends most of his time sailing on his boats and enjoys teaching new skills to the youth! He likes to keep active and being outside. Daniel is super pumped to experience life at Camp California! 

Lealle

Lealle (pronounced Lee-Elle) is from Florida in the U.S. and this will be her first summer at Camp California! Lealle has worked with kids for 8 years, through nannying, at a children’s dance studio, and as a camp yoga instructor. She loves exploring new places, the beach, reading, and art. Lealle also runs a small business with coloring books and stickers inspired by Harry Styles! She’s so excited to meet all the campers and spend time on the Adriatic this summer! 

Danielle

Danielle comes to us from Indiana in the United States. She is a fourth year nursing and Spanish student, and is looking forward to joining us as a Camp Mom. Although this is her first summer at Camp California, she has experience working with children while teaching swim lessons, summer camps, and in the clinical setting as she works in an Emergency Department. Danielle is looking forward to creating many memories with all the campers this summer!

Lily

Lily is joining us for the first time this summer and can’t wait to get stuck into camp life!  She is currently at university in Liverpool studying Business with Spanish and in her spare time enjoys a range of sports such as dance and netball. After travelling Central America last year Lily’s love for travelling and meeting new people has grown. She can’t wait to spend the summer in Croatia - a country she loves! Lily is so excited to meet all the campers and make some great memories this summer!

Maddie

Maddie is from New Brunswick, Canada. This will be her first summer working at Camp California!  She has worked at a summer camp in her hometown the past two summers. She has just recently completed her degree in Kinesiology. She spent the last semester of her degree studying in Singapore and she cannot wait to travel again this summer! Maddie loves spending time outdoors, playing sports, hiking, camping, and skiing, and she is so excited to embrace all new opportunities and friendships this summer at Camp California. 

Peyton

Peyton joins Camp Cal for his first summer from the United States, where he studies Marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Peyton loves cooking, hiking, traveling, and meeting new people.  He's excited to spend the summer on the Adriatic and make a positive impact on this year’s campers!

Jillian

Jillian joins Camp California for her first summer from Canada where she studies Biology and Psychology at Mount Allison University. Jillian loves all things outdoors and is super passionate about basketball. She is super excited to be a part of the Camp Cal team and bring joy and positivity to the campers.

Ellie

Ellie is from a small village near Birmingham, England. This will be her first year at Camp Cal. Ellie loves travelling, walking her dog, working out and spending time with her friends. She is looking forward to having a great summer with all the campers and making amazing memories!

Zach

Zack is joining us from South Australia, Australia for his first summer camp in Croatia! Zack enjoys traveling, adventure and all things outdoors. He is a coach and a national athlete for springboard diving. He also works at an “out of school hours care” and has a passion for helping and developing kids’ life skills and talents. He looks forward to meeting all the campers and making some unforgettable memories!

Leah

Leah is from California and Hungary, and is studying Public Relations at the University of Colorado Boulder. This will be Leah's sixth summer at Camp Cal, but her first one as a counselor! She has participated in all three programs Camp Cal has to offer. Her favorite resident camp activities are snorkeling, kayaking, band and photography. She is so excited to meet all the campers and make more amazing camp memories.

Paula

Paula is joining us this summer for her first year at camp california.  She is originally from Poland but lives and grew up in Florida, USA. She is a professional dancer and loves spending time with children teaching dance and swimming.  She is a lifeguard and loves being out in the summer sun at the beach or pool.  She is very excited to meet everyone at camp this year !

Olga

Olga is returning to Camp California from Warsaw, Poland after a couple years of a break living the travelling lifestyle. It will be her second summer in Pakostane and her fourth at summer camp in total. Having worked a variety of roles at Camp (gymnastics, windsurfing, climbing, general counsellor), this time she'll be joining us as a photographer. She cannot wait to capture beautiful smiles of all children and help them create memories that last a lifetime!

Dale

Dale is joining us from the beautiful South Australia . This will be his first summer camp and he has never been more excited. Dale loves all water sports as he is a springboard/platform diver for 10 years.  He also does part time work at a South Australian school where he takes part in excursions with yr7-9 students. Travelling has always been something Dale values and he is super keen to experience the amazing views that Croatia has to offer. He is very eager to meet all the staff and campers and make some everlasting memories. 

Olivia

Olivia is from Nova Scotia, Canada and this will be her first summer working at Camp Cal! She has a strong passion for working with children, and has been a camp counselor for the past 5 years in both Canada and Italy. Olivia loves soccer, basketball, hiking and all water activities. She is also very passionate about traveling and can’t wait to be back in Croatia this summer. Olivia loves helping campers learn and improve new skills and is very excited for camp this summer!
