Each summer Camp California brings together a wonderful team of counselors and staff to give your child the best possible summer camp experience. The majority of our cabin counselors are Native English Speaking from the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Many of our counselors and staff are also fluent in: Croatian, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Russian and Spanish. Our counselors are also highly skilled and experienced in the many activities we offer at Camp California as well as previous experience in youth development and supervision.

Max

Max is from the United States, and loves that he’s able to call Croatia home in the summer.  This will be Max’s 4th summer as Director of Camp California.  He has worked as a Counselor, Assistant Director, Founder and Director at some of the premier camps in the United States.  He has over 20 years of experience working with and running children’s summer camps.  Max loves being able to work with campers and staff from all over the world at Camp California.  When he’s not at camp, Max enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and daughter.  Max’s goal every summer is to create a safe, friendly, and fun environment where campers and counselors from around the world can thrive.

Tina

Tina is from Croatia, moving to Camp every summer from Rijeka. She fell in love with Camp California as a Teen Adventure counselor back in 2004 and returned as an Administrator in 2019. This will be her 6th summer in Camp helping the Camp run smoothly and making sure everyone is in for the greatest experience.  When not at Camp, Tina loves exploring the outdoors with her dog Lucky or spends her time being creative.  She considers Camp California to be her happy place!

David

David is from Sherborne, England. This will be David’s 6th summer at Camp California and he’s looking forward to being one of our Program Directors.  David has previously worked as a teaching assistant/ learning supporter at schools for children with emotional and physical needs in the UK.  On his travels, David has also been an ESL teacher at language schools in Mexico and Spain and counselor/specialist at camps in the US , France and Thailand. His hobbies include travelling, music, yoga and water sports. In the UK, David worked as an outdoor instructor for three years where he taught climbing, archery, canoeing and kayaking. Since being a counsellor at Camp California, he’s also learned to teach paddleboard and POI spinning. Most recently he has been working as an online English Teacher but can’t wait to get back outdoors and sing some camp songs!

Ryan

Ryan comes to us from Cornwall, England. He is returning for his fourth summer at Camp California.  Ryan was Head of Sports in his first summer and Head of Boys in his second.  He's excited to return as one of our Program Directors for the second time this summer!  Previously, Ryan has worked in an international sports camp in America for two summers. He also completed an outdoor education course in college and continued through to complete a sport science degree at Cardiff University. For his current job back in England he works with students on a one to one basis to secure a placement back into education. Through his gap year at university he spent a year in New Zealand traveling both the north and south island. He is looking forward to another action packed summer helping campers create lifelong memories.

Veronika

Veronika comes from Slovenia and is super excited to spend her 5th summer as our amazing Camp Mom!  In past years she worked as a couselor in a summer camp for people with special needs in Chicago. In camp she enjoys making friendship bracelets and floating around with the synchronized swimming class. When not at camp you can find her reading a book or taking a walk in nature. Veronika is currently working as a High School Counselor in her home town, and will be continuing her studies as an Inclusive Teacher. 

Charlie

Charlie is a Master’s student in Leeds, England. He loves staying active at camp, whether it’s leading activities, preparing skits or playing games with his cabin. Charlie loves to see his campers gain confidence whilst at camp. He can’t wait to return for his third summer at Camp Cal! 

Emily

Emily is returning for her third summer at Camp Cal. She is from England and is currently completing her Master's degree. In her free time, she loves to travel and stay active. Em is really looking forward to the variety of activities at camp and is particularly proud when watching her campers perform gymnastics routines on stage. She cannot wait to meet the campers and have another fantastic summer on the Adriatic!

Neamh

Neamh is joining us from Galway in Ireland.  She will be back at Camp California for a third summer!  She is heading into her final year at University, since spending various summers at camp she hopes to become a teacher.  Neamh loves all forms of outdoor activities and is excited to be back teaching wind surfing, kayaking and high ropes. Neamh loves helping campers have lots of fun and gain confidence in various activities at camp. She is so excited to spend another summer in paradise and meet all the campers.
 

Shannon

Shannon is from a small town in the heart of Ireland and is delighted to be returning for her 3rd summer at Camp Cal. She loves to travel and is happiest when outdoors and at Sea. Having recently graduated as a Primary School Teacher from the University of Limerick, Shannon aims to teach around the world. She has previously worked as a water sports instructor in Ireland and in Connecticut, USA. At camp, Shannon loves to spend time Sailing as well as participating in a variety of other activities. She is so excited to meet the returning and new campers!!

Niall

Niall is joining us for a second summer at Camp Cal. He is from Dublin and is currently in University studying Finance. Niall has a passion for all activities outdoors, from Gaelic football and Hurling, to water sports such as windsurfing and paddle boarding. He has experience working at water sports camps in Ireland and also tutors many students in Maths, Irish and French. Niall can’t wait to welcome all campers and have an amazing summer!

Éabha

Éabha is from a small coastal village in the south east of Ireland. This will be Éabha's second summer at Camp California. She is currently studying zoology but has plenty of experience working in this environment as she spent the 5 summers working in one of the best outdoor pursuits centers in Ireland. Growing up she was a competitive swimmer and surf lifesaver. Now as a lifeguard, she uses these skills to encourage campers to be confident and safe in all water-based activities. The best summer ever is pending and Éabha is so excited to meet all the campers and get involved.

Harvey

Harvey will be joining us for the first time this summer. He comes to us from Leeds, where he is in university studying neuroscience. Harvey loves being outdoors and enjoys keeping active by running and playing cricket. He can’t wait to make memories with the campers and have the summer of a lifetime!

Sophie

Sophie is from New Brunswick, Canada! This is her first summer at Camp California, but 4th summer working as a camp counsellor! She is a university student athlete going into her final year of study while playing basketball for her school. She has a love for being active, playing sports and the outdoors. Sophie is stoked to experience the magic that Camp California has to offer!
