Counselors live in cabins with campers. Our cabins typically have 5-8 campers and 2 counselors. Camp moms, office staff, program directors, activity directors, and head counselors live in shared cabins with other staff members.

Each summer, Camp California proudly hosts campers from around 40 different countries from around the world. The majority of our campers live in Europe, but many come to us every summer from outside of Europe, including campers from as far as Australia, the Americas, UAE, Japan, and more.

The majority of our cabin counselors are Native English Speaking from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Phone use is very limited at camp. There is a staff room where you can keep and charge your phone. Phones are only to be used during time off.  Phones may never enter the cabin or be carried around camp.  We strongly believe that separating from technology at camp creates a more authentic, socially rich, and adventure-filled experience.

The food at Camp California could be said to be the best food offered at any summer camp. It is fresh, wholesome, and tasty, and there is an abundance of options at each meal. Breakfast features both hot and cold menu options, and fresh fruit is always available. For both lunch and dinner, there are multiple options for hot entrees, fresh fruit and veggies, always a robust salad bar, and a daily soup option. Pasta and potato options are always available at both lunch and dinner. All meals are buffet style and have vegetarian options.

Absolutely!  Each week, our team have one full day off to explore, relax, and re-energize.  Counselors usually visit national parks, wander through cities and villages, or hire boats to go island hopping.  We’re located right on the Adriatic Sea, so there is always plenty to see and do.  After camp, many staff members travel around Croatia and other parts of Europe together for more adventures.
